Biodiversidade nos espaços verdes urbanos: promover a educação ambiental e a sustentabilidade

Resumo
A urbanização é um fenómeno global que conduziu a alterações significativas nos ecossistemas, resultando frequentemente na perda de biodiversidade. No entanto, os espaços verdes urbanos emergem como santuários para a diversidade da flora e fauna. Este artigo investiga a importância fundamental da biodiversidade nos espaços verdes urbanos e enfatiza sua capacidade de atuar como ferramentas para a educação ambiental, permitindo uma compreensão mais aprofundada dos princípios ecológicos e promovendo um estilo de vida urbano sustentável. Além disso, destaca-se o papel das instituições de ensino superior na consecução das suas responsabilidades e compromissos com as prioridades ecológicas, como a conservação da biodiversidade e a proteção e recuperação de habitats. Utilizando o campus do Lumiar como estudo de caso, um projeto interdisciplinar foi realizado para sensibilizar os estudantes sobre a importância da biodiversidade urbana. Os resultados demonstraram a eficácia da metodologia de Aprendizagem Baseada em Projetos no reforço do envolvimento dos estudantes.
