Abstract
This article presents a retrospective of the artistic language known as site-specific and discusses issues such as the use of video and the spectator’s presence (or not) in this kind of work; e how the camera can be used as an agent of mediation between the artist and the audience. We analyze some of the works that are considered precursos of this style - which appeared in the mid-1960s - and the idea of how the removal or place changing of a site-specific work can transform it or modify its meaning. The text also proposes an approximation between art and and anthropology when we discuss that place of an artwork does not need necessarily to be a physical space. This article’s starting point is the thinking of authors such as Miwon Kwnon, Nike Kay, Phillipe Dubois and Hal Foster.

Lucas Rossi Gervilla, Universidade Estadual Paulista
Visual artist and filmmaker. PhD student (Bolsa Capes) and master by the Institute of Arts at UNESP and a bachelor's degree in Communication and Multimedia at PUC-SP. He participated in more than 160 audiovisual productions. In 2020, he directed his first feature film, entitled Ruinoso. In 2018 he was commissioned by Canal Futura to produce the short film Edmur and the Truck. In 2017 he received the “Mobility Fund” scholarship offered by the Prince Claus Fund. He was a resident artist at ZK / U, Berlin; Fabrika CCI, Moscow; Ambos Mundos Gallery, Buenos Aires; NES Artist Residency, Iceland; and at Espacio Casa 3 Patios in Medellín.
