Deeply intertwined, Environment and Education set the tone for this 46th issue of the International Journal in Portuguese (RILP). In the wider community of Portuguese-speaking countries, where environmental contexts range from tropical forests to coastal ecosystems, this interconnection has taken on a global and growing prominence, with environmental education realising - and proving to be - an invaluable tool for promoting awareness of more sustainable practices. Environment and Education also set the tone for the urgent need to ensure the preservation of natural resources, in a teaching-learning partnership that is increasingly capable of meeting the challenges of climate change, deforestation, loss of biodiversity and the scarcity of livelihoods.
